Stock boxes are often used as cheap boxes for low volume packing or for one off shipments. The key to choosing the right cardboard box for your needs is to look at what you are going to use it for. And if you have any long boxes left over children love to play with them and make towers etc. A cheap box and a child's imagination can keep them entertained for hours.

The cheapest type of box is the single walled brown box, this is for two reasons. Brown is the natural colour of the fibre used to manufacture corrugated cardboard boxes. Changing the colour from brown to white can be done through a bleaching process but as this is a extra step to the manufacturing process it adds extra cost to your cheap cardboard boxes.

The other reason for brown single wall cardboard boxes being the cheapest boxes is that they are single wall and not double or triple wall boxes. Single wall corrugated cardboard consists of one fluted medium between two sheets of linerboard. Double wall as it's name implies, has two fluted mediums sandwiched between three sheets of linerboard.

Custom boxes are used by many companies for shipping their products as it actually saves money. Think about this, you have a product that you ship in a box that is too big for it. It will move around in the box during transit unless you use loose fill or bubble wrap to stop it from moving around in the box. Custom made boxes however are exactly the right size and therefore do not require loose fill of extra packaging to fill the voids. This in turn saves you money on your packaging materials. Custom made boxes can also help you with branding. Printed custom made boxes give you an extra medium which you can use to sell your product to your customers with.
